"The Cirrus Flight Standards department
has evaluated the FlyThisSim TouchTrainer.
It is a very good aircraft-specific systems,
avionics, procedures, and IFR recurrent
trainer for Cirr us
Analog, Avidyne, and Perspective aircraft.
Using this device is an excellent and
affordable way for all Cirrus pilots to
maintain currency and improve decision
making."

Manager, Cirrus Aircraft Corporation

The TouchTrainerTM should be
on the “essential equipment list” for any
Cirrus pilot. From startup to shut-down, you
can practice each phase with remarkably
accurate functionality, including
approaches, missed approaches, holds, and
more. I’ve even used the TT to practice
approaches into new airports the day before,
making the real flight much more relaxing.
There isn’t another simulator remotely close
to it. The autopilot and other avionics are
extremely true to life, and the touch-screen
interface brings it all together. Not only
will it add to your safety and confidence,
it’s almost as much fun as the real Cirrus!

I have had my TouchTrainerTM
now for about 5 months now, and continue to
be impressed by how realistic it is. Before
I go to a new destination, I find it helpful
to fly the planned approach and run through
the procedure. This simulator is truly
amazing at how well it represents the real
aircraft and particularly now it is FAA
certified. I expect that regular use of the
simulator will make me a much safer pilot.

Certified
by the FAA as a Flight Training Device!
TouchTrainerTM
is like no other FAA approved aircraft training
device. Touch screens provide a unique value
proposition. We eliminated most all hardware
controls, and replaced them with photorealistic
virtual buttons and knobs. TouchTrainer provides
visual and aural feedback for positive control
selection to the operator. This revolutionary
change enables the following benefits:
LOWER COST: As an individual,
every pilot can afford to own one. This in-home
convenience encourages pilot safety and maintain
currency.
Prices start at $3,500
(all inclusive with
analog, Avidyne and Perspective panels!) |
HIGHER FIDELITY:
Controls are properly positioned on a photorealistic
background, and have the same appearance to the make
and model of the simulated aircraft. Users
instinctively learn control position and function in
the training device for use in the aircraft.
MORE
VERSATILE: No other approved flight
simulator can immediately transition between various
cockpit configurations: such as standard “six pack”,
Garmin G1000, Avidyne, or other technically advanced
avionics.
Available now for Cirrus.
IMPROVED RELIABILITY, MAINTAINABILITY AND
SERVICEABILITY: Most moving parts are
eliminated, and replaced with “off-the-shelf”
standard consumer components and solid-state
displays. Software upgrades are free for the first
year, and very low cost after that.

Frequently Asked Questions
- I currently own SimAVIO and your Cirrus
Add-on panels. Can I purchase the same hardware
components to obtain an FAA approved simulator
- Unfortunately not. We must deliver a
complete warranted system to you in order
for it to be FAA approved.
- If I add a dedicated visual above the
TouchTrainerTM, does it disqualify
the FAA certification?
- Yes. Your TouchTrainerTM must
remain unmodified unless you submit
documents to the FAA first. According to FAA
circular AC 61-136 Appendix 1.f., any person
who modifies an Aviation Training Device
(ATD) must submit a revised “Qualification
and Approval Guide” (QAG). All non-approved
modifications will invalidate the
certification of the ATD.
- Can I change the panel layout without
disqualifying the FAA certification?
- No, you cannot add, remove, reposition
or resize any instrument on the panel
layout. Doing so will void your FAA
certification.
- Other than the license, what are the
differences between the commercial FAA approved,
home-use FAA approved, and home-use non FAA
approved versions of the TouchTrainerTM?
Do you have a commercial non-approved version?
- Commercial systems include a Level 3 USB
key (commercial) for X-Plane and stricter
conformance testing. The non-approved
system does not come with rudder pedals.
- How is TouchTrainerTM
different, as compared to SimAVIO sold on your
retail website?
- As required by the FAA, the TouchTrainer
includes a self-test during the software
start-up to validate performance and
connectivity of hardware components.
TouchTrainerTM automates the
start-up sequence, requiring only a single
touch from computer power-up to aircraft
engine start.
